BRUSSELS, May 11 (KUNA) -- The European Union (EU) and Iraq Friday signed a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement which establishes a comprehensive platform for enhancing ties and cooperation in a wide range of areas These include cooperation in countering terrorism and promoting human rights, trade and investment in key .areas such as energy and services EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, who signed the agreement, said in press statements that "I am delighted to sign an Agreement which I am convinced is good for Iraq, good for the EU, and good for our long term relationship .This is the first ever such Agreement between the EU and Iraq," she noted" Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari signed the agreement on behalf of his country.
